Lost

Yup, lost!  Never realized it till a few minutes ago.  Just received a wonderful phone call from my first cousin, who is ten years younger than I am. When we were kids, his family would come for a visit and we both laughed about the times he and my brother would spend hours in the basement at the pool table.

He said, "we just loved it when your dad, uncle Bob or you  would come down and play with us...you were the "experts!'"Well, the phone conversation traveled from pool, his dreams of our house, grandparents, siblings and other people, places and things long gone. Laughter was the main thread in this whole visit!

"Lost" comes  in many forms.  With parents gone, the family home a figment of the imagination, even the family phone number only a memory all of what used to be is now like water through our fingers.

Yes, we all adjust to changes sooner or later and they usually leave our frontal cortex where they once might have been very fresh for us.  However, when a wonderful phone call rings in the middle of a very boring TV show it comes to me that yes, these times have been lost, loved ones have been lost, but someone who "reached out and touched" someone helped it all to be found!  And for the glorious minutes we shared these memories, it was just about as good as being there!

Thank you, Greg!  What a simple phone call can do!
