It just hit me! Regularly, when I traveled anywhere my husband would watch the weather, giving me reports, making sure I was aware of impending storms and etc! Sometimes, I got frustrated because I was fully aware of the weather, too!
Weather, even now in March, is unpredictable with ice, snow, slippery roads and black ice. Even when I'm not planning on going anywhere I still check the weather because if I go outside I don't want to slip and fall. It is just one of those things, trying to be safe.
Well, then I thought of other things like a neighbor and former work friend who refuses to vote. I hate to bring up voting, and of course it is a personal choice, but the older I get the more I think about the safety of individuals, their security and our country.
This hits close to home with friends who are veterans, depending on services and income from defending our country; relatives who may be out of a job because of unscrupulous cuts to their departments; seniors who can barely make ends meet and children who depend on their only meals at school.
I never say the weather must be changed and I don't disagree with trimming spending. However, when floods, fire and hurricanes come in disastrous ways we look to bigger reasons like climate change.
So, too, are we looking to broader issues that can influence our future when it comes time to vote?! We need to pay attention to the future, just like paying attention to the weather in order to prevent more harm as well as voting for those who can impact our future! Are there bigger storms coming...or are they already here?!
